GETTING HERE

The fast way over

From northern Corfu, Othoni is about a one-and-a-half-hour ferry ride away. From Corfu Town, the same journey takes almost four hours. This is also the only ferry connection that makes a genuine day trip to the island possible.

The route

The ferry departs from the small port of Agios Stefanos in Avliotes, at the northwestern tip of Corfu. Be careful not to confuse it with the other Agios Stefanos located on the northeast coast. The ferry operates every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, departing at 10:30 and returning from Othoni at 16:00. This schedule is what makes a day trip possible. The journey takes about one hour. The timetable applies during the summer season, so check the current dates before making your plans.

Everything depends on the weather. Othoni is located in the open Ionian Sea, and when conditions are not suitable, ferry schedules may be changed or cancelled. If you are travelling in spring, autumn, or on windy days, it is best to keep your plans flexible and confirm the ferry schedule the day before.

Getting to the port

Agios Stefanos in Avliotes is about 38 km from Corfu Town, up in the north-west corner. If you are staying in Sidari, it is only about 8 km away. There is a bus from Corfu Town, and parking at the port if you drive.

The ferry departs at 10:30, which makes this route especially convenient for those staying in northern Corfu, such as Sidari, Avliotes, Roda, or Acharavi. If you are starting from Corfu Town, you will need an earlier departure to reach the port, but it is still the fastest option and, most importantly, the only one that allows you to visit Othoni and return on the same day.
